This position will support all aspects of operating, trouble shooting, maintaining and improving the XPS processes and equipment at the Rockford East plant. This will include the XPS Extruding Line, the XPS Finishing Line, and the XPS Reclaim Process. This is a hands on technician that prioritizes the assignments of the XPS production lines and will work alongside maintenance and production personnel to accomplish tasks. This role will report into the site’s Process Engineer. 

Key Duties Include

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in natureOther duties may be assigned.   

  1. Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.  
  2. Provides focused troubleshooting support to keep production lines running efficiently and to ensure specified levels of product quality. Develops, plans, and implements improvements based on analytical methods and verifies through production trials.  
  3. Is directly involved with process improvement, equipment repairs, upgrades and installation projects as needed.  
  4. Supports the implementation of new or changed processes.  
  5. Creates, reviews, and monitors adherence to manufacturing and quality standards to optimize cost, productivity and customer satisfaction.  
  6. Generates and implements training documentation and programs to develop production personnel both technically and in good working practices.  
  7. Troubleshoots production problems and communicates resolutions with minimal assistance 
  8. Ensures quality of products on line 
  9. Generates and improves production standards and verifies adherence. Including improvement of production cycle times.  
  10. Supports new product development and new material trials.  
  11. Assists in production startups and changeovers.  
  12. Provides input in the generation and manipulation of manufacturing line schedules.  
  13. Communicates daily with shift management to target problem areas and devise action plans.  
  14. Operates forklifts and other powered industrial equipment safely. 
  15. Monitoring process water conditions and maintenance.  
  16. Assist on the Production lines as needed to maintain productivity.

  2. Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations and market demands.

  4. Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

Qualifications

Education and/or ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent combination of education/work experience, with a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience, including facilities maintenance experienceMust have a thorough knowledge of mechanical devices and apparatus, and be familiar with all basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment repair and techniques. Plastic extrusion experience preferred. Boilers license qualification preferred.  

Must have:  

  • Working knowledge of production and safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out. 
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations. 
  • A working knowledge of computer software such as MS Office and Outlook 
  • Working knowledge of SAP, or similar type software is preferred. 

 

Must be able to: 

  • Work in a team based environment. 
  • Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and overtime, as needed. 
  • Follow directions and get along well with others.   

 

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondence Must be able to communicate at a high level, orally and written, in English. 

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide).   

 

Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
