This position provides daily administration of the Kingspan manufacturing facility’s accounting and finance activities, providing support with financial statement preparation and financial analysis, as well as continuous improvement of the accounting function. The Plant Accountant provides timely and accurate accounting and finance services while complying with all legislative and corporate requirements, ensures an adequate system of internal control is maintained, general ledger accounts are correctly stated and classified, and that financial reporting is prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), where applicable 

Key Duties Include

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.  

 

  1. Performs work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment. 
  2. Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts on a recurring basis, including posting monthly journal entries and completing account reconciliations. 
  3. Conducts the month and year end closing process.  
  4. Provides monthly production variance analysis and investigates discrepancies. 
  5. Prepares analytical reports as part of the executive monthly reporting package. 
  6. Completes the following in Comshare/Tagetik as part of the monthly close process: KPI Variance Analysis, Stock, Headcount Analysis, and Non-Finance KPI. 
  7. Provides weekly/monthly spending reports and variance reports for plant personnel. 
  8. Ensures GAAP is incorporated into the management of the business. Reports on IFRS basis where applicable. 
  9. Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place and supports effective and efficient financial audits. 
  10. Oversees plant inventories and supports stock provision calculations. 
  11. Reviews and approves accounts payable payment runs on a weekly basis. 
  12. Assists with the plant budget, if requested. 
  13. Provides cost accounting expertise for the manufacturing operation by supporting the maintenance of the cost system. 
  14. Works closely with manufacturing operations to ensure accurate and timely capture of all production costs and effective analysis of production variances. 
  15. Preparation, review, and update of standard product cost in SAP.  
  16. Develops, monitors and analyses manufacturing overhead absorption models, labor rate models and energy models 
  17. Generate the monthly and yearly cost runs in SAP. 
  18. Develops and maintains thorough financial procedures and systems in accordance with Kingspan Group accounting manual. 
  19. Assists the Finance team in developing more effective workflow processes.

  2. Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations and market demands. 
  3. Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of Compliance Management System. 
  4. Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

Qualifications

Strong math, time management, organization, and computer skills with SAP experience highly preferred 

Must have: 

  • Strong working knowledge of business computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word). SAP or similar software experience preferred. 
  • Strong math, time management, and organizational skills are necessary. 
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with solid cost accounting background. 

 Must be able to: 

  • Work in a team-based environment. 
  • Follow directions and get along well with others 
  • Maintain strict confidence in financial sensitive information and demonstrate a high level of integrity.  
  • Adapt to a complex, ever changing work environment. 

Education and/or Experience: BS/BA in Business Management, Accounting or Finance and 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing industry.  

Language Skills: Excellent telephone and oral communication skills. Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills to ensure communication is timely, clear, and effective. 

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide) 

 

Reasoning Skills: Ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. Possess strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve problems in a diplomatic manner.
