The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources function within our organization. This multifaceted position combines recruitment responsibilities with HR generalist duties, requiring a versatile skill set and a deep understanding of the HR landscape. As a HR Generalist, you will be an integral part of the HR team, contributing to the overall success of the organization by attracting top talent and supporting HR initiatives. You will be responsible for attracting, screening, and selecting qualified candidates for KINA while also providing support in various HR areas, ensuring the smooth functioning of the company’s HR processes at our Mendota, IL site 

Key Duties Include

Key Responsibilities:  
Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.   

  1. Recruitment: Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and identify the hiring needs across different departments. Utilize various recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates. Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and manage the candidate selection process. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new hires.  
  2. Talent Acquisition: Develop and maintain relationships with external recruitment agencies, job boards, and universities to expand the talent pool and stay updated on industry trends. Implement effective sourcing strategies, including social media, networking, and employee referrals, to identify potential candidates for current and future positions.  
  3. HR Support: Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures, and programs. Address employee inquiries related to benefits, compensation, leaves of absence, and other HR-related matters. Assist in the administration of HR Programs, such as performance management, employee engagement, employee relations and training initiatives.  
  4. Compliance: Ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and internal policies. Stay updated on HR legal requirements and make recommendations to ensure adherence. Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to maintain a fair and inclusive work environment 
  5. HR Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Process HR-related documents, including employment contracts, offer letters, and performance evaluations. Support the HR team in creating and maintaining HR reports and metrics.  
  6. HR Projects: Participate in HR projects, such as employee engagement surveys, policy development, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and systems to enhance the overall employee experience.  

Essential Duties:

  1. Manages employee relations, talent acquisition and payroll compliance for our Mendota, IL site.  
  2. Responsible for full life cycle recruiting for KINA open positions.  
  3. Engages with applicants from the screening phase to onboarding. 
  4. Manages candidate communication, and experience throughout the entire hiring process to ensure a positive candidate experience and position the company as the employer of choice.  
  5. Proactively identifies, sources, and recruits’ candidates utilizing a variety of sources including, but not limited to, job boards, internet searching, sourcing tools, referrals, networking, local schools, job fairs, social media, and talent communities/career opportunity organizations.  
  6. Requisition Management, conducting pre-screening interviews and coordinating phone, video, and onsite interviews - acting as the liaison between the candidate and the manager.  
  7. Manages the offer process, including, offer letter generation, background checks, drug screens, and offer acceptance/turndowns.  
  8. Revises job descriptions, staffing, and sourcing procedures to continually improve and streamline the recruiting process and to maximize resources.  
  9. Consults on market trends, hourly rates for contingent labor and advises on hiring strategies and keeps a pulse on the local talent pool.  
  10. Builds strategic alliances and maintains relationships with staffing agencies, universities and technical colleges, local employment offices, community organizations, professional, and non-profit organizations, and government agencies to positively impact the recruiting efforts and name branding.  
  11. Interprets and analyzes data to present enhancements can be made to the hiring process such as revisions of behavioral-based interview guides, job descriptions, compensation, and success indicators.  
  12. Work closely with HR Team and Hiring Managers to discuss local employment trends, candidate availability, and make/implement recommendations to continue recruiting success.  
  13. Assists in the development of employee onboarding and training programs.

  1. Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Product Compliance Policy. 
  2. Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations and market demands. 
  3. Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of Compliance Management System. 
  4. Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

Qualifications

Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred.  
  • Minimum three (2) years’ experience full cycle recruiting; high volume or agency staffing recruiting experience required (prefer experience recruiting for a manufacturing environment), or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the above knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • Proven experience as a Recruiter or HR Generalist, preferably in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be present for all shifts on a regular basis thus flexibility is needed for the work schedule. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures, and employment laws. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.  
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and applicant tracking software. 
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.  
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail.
